Roger Blonder, MFA,  Director of Media Arts

Roger Blonder is an independent animator, media artist, writer and educator. His animated poetry, environmental films, and interactive projects have been exhibited in over 50 international film and media festivals and been honored with many awards. Blonder received his MFA from the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Digital Media. Prior to joining the faculty of New Community Jewish High School, he taught animation at Art Center College of Design, Loyola Marymount University and in the UCLA Animation Workshop. His entertainment industry and agency work includes creative team development for clients including Dreamworks Interactive, Electronic Arts, TBWA/Chiat, Siegel & Gale, THQ, and Spark Unlimited.

At the intersection of media arts and Jewish life, Blonder has served as the Visual Artist Educator in Residence for the Brandeis Collegiate Institute (BCI) program of the Brandeis Bardin Institute (American Jewish University),  developed an interactive archaeology installation for the Hebrew Union College Skirball Cultural Center, and participated as a researcher in the development of the Interactive Multimedia Research Center of the Simon Wiesenthal Center Museum of Tolerance. Blonder lives in Woodland Hills with his wife RenĂ©e and two daughters.
